The medium used in printing today is mainly paper. Various types of paper have their own uses, and there are many types of paper, including high-grade color printing commonly used "coated paper "(commonly known as" powder paper "), is the roller pressure chemical coated paper, the surface is extremely smooth and glossy, so it is generally known as "glossy coated paper".

The surface of glossy coated paper with additional processing can obtain a very smooth but no luster effect, called "matt coated paper "(commonly known as" matte powder paper "), suitable for fine dot color printing.

General color printing commonly used sheet paper, the weight is 128gsm or 157gsm, black and white printing is 80gsm to 128gsm, letter paper weight is 70gsm to 120gsm, envelope paper weight is 100gsm to 160gsm, and business card paper is 160gsm to 250gsm. The paper used for printing books is usually slightly lighter than for printing leaflets.
